Where I come from we give Sugars (kisses), we get Sugars. Sugargirl, is a cute pet name, for a babygirl...and I was amused that in Italian, there is the same concept, a baci girl. Baci is Italian for kisses:). Baci is also a dark chocolate candy. "bacchi". Either way Italians love their baci:).
It´s nice, heartwarming, cute, making me smile, when I see how affectionate Italian men are. Older or university aged, it´s usual to see a guy kiss, hug, hold hands, be openly affectionate with their girlfriend/wife. Just today, before I forgot to write it down, I was suddenly remembering several couples:
-on the bus, well really way to many to write down all of them, but the guy standing up talking and smiling and holding the hand on and off of his girlfriend, and her giggling, smiling, talking back with him (not to or at each other ,with each other), and how they continued through out the entire bus ride, including as the bus finally ended at the station, and they both continued the convo/affectionate looks etc as they simultaneously walked off the bus in a crowd, without missing a beat,). It was very sweet!
-The guy who got on the bus at my stop, sat in front of me, quiet, shy type...his wife got on the bus a bit later, stood beside him (she insisted on him sitting as she wanted to stand, when he started to give her his seat), and they stayed like that talking, quietly google eying each other, til they both got off the bus at a park walking hand and hand or close, continuing their conversation, as the two above, as if no one else was around, as if they were the only two people in the world,). Very sweet. They were about twiceplus the age of the first couple (so about 20ish first couple, this couple mid 50s or so).
-So many much older couples too, walking hand and hand, or very close (the sidewalks can be quite extremely very very narrow, sometimes hardly wide enough for one stick person let alone two people, even of narrow size). The lady in the fur coat, both looking a bit of a relic, but so in love, very sweet:). It always makes me happy to see happy couples, even if I know it´s just a snippet of a situation, it´s still makes me happy to see.
Reminded me, yet again, Valentine´s Day is here soon--well of course, even here there are red and white valentines and reminders in lots of places, shop windows, etc. Reminding me that I need to get something, maybe baci, heart chocolates at Venchi chocolates wrapped up in bright shiny romantic pretty red and pink foils. The Prosecco is boxed and ready for its flight to Norway,). Valentines, even if I am alone or not, the day always brightens my spirits, and I always try to make it romantic and a fun, nice or something good, relaxing etc day. Though usually I forget it anyway soon, unless I blog it,). Will try to blog this years. Prosecco, chocolates, will try to make some homemade (well, gelato probably out of the question to make homemade and it turn out well) sorbet: champagne and peach or something fruity and light, orange or lemon or lime. And roses, pink and orangey yellow roses, or something.
Kisses and baci everywhere, and valentines everywhere else. Another list tomorrow:
get baci
make, handpaint some valentine cards, with a little calligraphy sp

Well, if no one wishes you a happy valentine´s, even if you don´t care, happy valentine´s day!
