One of the local alimentari I found to get fresh fruit, fresh veggies and such. Practice my Italian. In the back, is a small deli cafe like seating area, for lunch.
In Florence, in this type of market, you do not choose your own produce, or touch any of it. You tell the green grocer what you´d like and he/she then chooses it for you, wrapping up each type of item in pretty white paper, pricing it by hand after weighing it. Prices are usually on the front of the crates.
This visit, I got something for supper: cherries, banana, fresh figs (not dried which I also like), radishes, purple cherry tomatoes...and a few other things. I got to practice my numbers and names of fruits, veggies, and ask directions.
